Balance in a website is important: this allows the page to flow.  The main focus when entering a site is the top left of the page, moving focus to the right.  Important items should immediately stand out without creating a cluttered page.  Too many flashing & moving elements on a page is not recommended as this distracts the visitors. 

Along with the design, content is so incredibly important.  The design will give the feel of your business & the content will give the actual purpose of your business.  Too many sites out there may have beautiful graphics that fill the page but that alone is not enough when you're trying to sell or provide a service.  That being said, pages & pages of text might bore visitors.  Web content must be more tightly constructed than text in books or magazines because visitors can just as easily close the window & choose another.  Content needs to serve the needs of the visitor and it must be to the point but constructed in a way that the visitor is enticed.

We do extensive research & preparation beforehand to also be familiar with your business / organisation.  The needs of both the client or the prospective clients / visitors are identified & a structure for the website is created.  The navigation should be easy & direct.  One shouldn't have to search for a specific piece of info - related information should be grouped together.  The key is to structure the site in a way where crucial info & graphics are not overshadowed by unnecessary flashy graphics that distracts instead of ads.
